Unleash the Power of Gut Health for Optimal Well-being

follow us today

The more I delve into the realm of homeopathic medicine, the more convinced I become that the GUT is the linchpin of our overall health. It’s the cornerstone upon which our body’s foundation is built.

Health, quite literally, starts from the gut.

Remember the ancient wisdom of Hippocrates, who declared, “All disease begins in the gut”? Well, it holds truer today than ever before.

Our gut is a bustling hub, home to trillions of bacteria that govern countless bodily functions. These microbial maestros oversee the production of essential vitamins, orchestrate our immune system, influence brain function, and even play a pivotal role in regulating our metabolism and weight. It’s a bustling cityscape of microorganisms, and their health is paramount.

But here’s the catch: our modern lifestyle and unhealthy choices have taken a toll on these tiny inhabitants. The typical Western diet, laden with processed food and bereft of nutrients our friendly gut bacteria crave, has created a hostile environment. Environmental toxins further exacerbate the situation. Our gut health suffers when we consume excess sugar, starch, rely on antibiotics, or endure a series of traumas, like my own childhood experiences.

Think of your gut as an inner garden, a lush sanctuary of vitality.

Just like any garden, when weeds take over, chaos ensues. Sadly, many of us grapple with an overgrown, unruly garden.

Millions endure digestive distress, often unaware that seemingly unrelated issues like acne, mood disorders, autoimmune diseases, thyroid imbalances, memory lapses, and chronic illnesses are intrinsically linked to an imbalanced microbiome.

So, the million-dollar questions: HOW do we restore balance to our gut?

My personal journey to conquer IBS led me on an exhaustive exploration of the prerequisites for a healthy microbiome and, consequently, a healthier me. Beyond stress management, gentle movement, and nourishing foods, I uncovered the crucial step of providing my microbiome with the sustenance it craved.

I big farewell to the detrimental elements and nurtured my beneficial bacteria. That’s when the transformation began!

I stand here today, healed and revitalized. However, I understand that you might still be grappling with gut-related woes, seeking genuine solutions.

Rest assured, I’m here for you.

Six Ways To Restore Balance To Your Nervous System https://howewell.com/six-ways-to-restore-balance-to-your-nervous-system/ Wed, 12 Jul 2023 16:41:14 +0000 https://howewell.com/?p=12666

Six Ways to Restore Balance to Your Nervous System

follow us today

You can’t expect to heal if you’re constantly stressed the f out. In the chaos of our modern world, our bodies are constantly bombarded with stressors that can send our nervous system into overdrive!

The fight or flight response, a natural survival mechanism, is activated in these moments, but what many fail to realize is that being in this state hinders our ability to heal.

While you may not be able to control your nervous system, there are measures you can take to help calm yourself down and build resilience when facing stressful situations.

1) Take a Breath – Breathwork can be a surprisingly effective and simple way to calm your nerves. Take two deep inhales, and exhale slowly. Do that ten times.

2) Get Cold – Cold exposure may soothe your vagus nerve, the main nerve of your parasympathetic nervous system, and help restore balance. Think hot to cold showers.

3) Sweat it Out – If cold isn’t your thing, you can try heat instead. There’s something so relaxing about a long, hot bath—and for good reason. Being submerged in a warm bath or a hot sauna lowers inflammation, and helps reduce anxiety.

4) Shake it Off – Yep, I’m telling you to shake, shake, shake it off. It turns out that shaking out your body helps release tension and trauma. When we shake our body, we’re calming our nervous system to a neutral state by burning adrenaline and releasing muscular tension.

5) Cuddle Up – Cuddling with your loved ones or your cat or dog doesn’t just help you bond—it also releases the feel-good hormone oxytocin which helps to bring calm and happiness into your life.

6) Switch Off – We all know reduced screen time can help with your sleep schedule. But taking a break from the fast-paced and stressful work that tends to live on screens is also important to regulate your nervous system. Constant engagement online can lead to stress on the body and contribute to depression and anxiety.

Regulating our nervous system is crucial for our overall health and healing. By consciously engaging the parasympathetic nervous system, commonly called the “rest and digest” response, we can counterbalance the intense fight or flight state of stress.

If you’re ready to explore homeopathic ways to improve your diet, regulate your gut + nervous system, I invite you to schedule a free strategy call.

Together, we can get you on the path towards holistic healing and provide you with the tools to thrive. Don’t wait… your journey to optimal health starts now!

Is the State of Your Nervous System Causing You to Feel Unsafe? https://howewell.com/is-the-state-of-your-nervous-system-causing-you-to-feel-unsafe/ Wed, 05 Jul 2023 17:22:00 +0000 https://howewell.com/?p=12641

Is the State of your Nervous System Causing You to Feel Unsafe?

follow us today

ALL DAY, your nervous system checks out your environment for signs of danger! Your reactions are based on how regulated your nervous system is.

  • You get stuck in traffic
  • You forgot your lunch at home
  • Your partner doesn’t do the dishes
  • You made a small mistake at work
  • Your kids are extra loud or completely annoying you

How you respond to challenges throughout the day WILL depend on how healthy, happy, and resilient your nervous system is.

We move between three states:
  • Safe
  • Reaction
  • Shutdown

Our number 1 goal in nervous system regulation is how we are able to FLOW BACK TO SAFETY throughout the day.

Depending on our ability to either react well or go straight into reactor / shutdown mode, can make it a hard core struggle to return to safety.

Now we:
  • have gained 30lb of stress weight
  • are exhausted in the morning
  • feel mentally drained
  • and emotionally fried

When we are stuck in reaction or shutdown mode, the inconveniences or challenges of life will activate our fight or flight mode (yelling, irritability, overwhelming emotion), causing us to feel unsafe with other people and misread situations or react inappropriately.

When we can move back into safety, we can navigate life with calm, playful energy.

❤We respond instead of reacting
❤We prioritize connection + compassion

Feeling like you’re constantly stressed, reacting, and snapping at ALL situations?

Here’s a few suggestions:
  • 2-1 Breathing: Double inhale, one long exhale.
  • Stress Shaking: Just as it sounds. Try shaking your body, starting from your feet and moving up through your limbs. This allows physical movement to release tension and stress from your muscles.
  • Cold Water Face Splash: Splash your face with cold water or hold a cold washcloth to your face, for a few moments. The cold temperature stimulates the body’s relaxation response and helps calm the stress response.
  • Nature Walks: Spend some time in nature, taking leisurely walks and immersing yourself in the calming sights, sounds and smells.
  • Product We Love: Lavender & Sage Smudge Stick
  • Product We Love: Calm-Gen

I invite you to join me for a free discovery call so we can talk about the overall health of your gut & nervous system, so you can finally:

  • Lose the stress weight
  • Have more energy
  • Feel calm in your busy fast pace lifestyle
  • Elevate your mood and become stable

All consultations are virtual.

Simple Ways to Support Your ANS https://howewell.com/simple-ways-to-support-your-ans/ Wed, 28 Jun 2023 17:22:00 +0000 https://howewell.com/?p=12606

Simple Ways to Support Your ANS

follow us today

I’m constantly preaching that the body is ALL connected. I can’t tell you how many women come to me after having tried EVERYTHING to address their painful health problems, only to later find out that the root cause of their problem was either never addressed or previously ignored!

I help heal and educate my patients on these problem areas, and provide specific homeopathic strategies, individualized remedies, and a diet for their blood to support them.

One important system that I often see overlooked is the autonomic nervous system (ANS).

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of the nervous system that controls involuntary body functions such as heart rate, digestion, and respiratory rate. It’s divided into 3 branches: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), and the enteric nervous system (ENS).

The SNS is responsible for the “fight or flight” response, in response to stress or danger. This system increases heart rate, dilates pupils, and raises blood pressure. The PNS, on the other hand, triggers the “rest and digest” response, which slows heart rate, constricts pupils, and stimulates digestion. The ENS is responsible for digestion itself, and is often referred to as the “second brain.”

Signs that your ANS is probably dysfunctional:
  • Rapid or irregular heart rate
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Indigestion
  • Excessive sweating, and feeling lightheaded or faint.

Dysfunction in the ANS can be caused by chronic stress, trauma, infections, and SEVERAL big ph*rma medications.

Simple Ways To Support Your ANS:
  • Grounding
  • Prioritizing eating a nutritious diet per your blood type
  • Breathing exercises
  • Removing toxic people from your life
  • Self-talk affirmations.

Ultimately, proper support to the ANS leads to stability in your daily routine and improved overall health.

Plus, think what is happening to your gut if your ANS isn’t stable? ➡ Dysfunction.

Our body is ONE. SINGULAR. UNIT.

AND HEALTH ALWAYS STARTS IN THE GUT

How Are You Disrupting Your Hormones? https://howewell.com/how-are-you-disrupting-your-hormones/ Wed, 21 Jun 2023 17:22:00 +0000 https://howewell.com/?p=12449

How Are You Disrupting Your Hormones?

follow us today

Realize that a little of this and a little of that adds up when it comes to hormone disrupters – and the negative impact it’s having on our generation of women is insane!

Cosmetics, candles, and personal care products are loaded with ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS (natural or human-made chemicals that may mimic, block, or interfere with the body’s hormones), and women use an average of 160 of these chemicals a day!!!

What else disrupts hormones?

➡Fake meats with GMO soy and inflammatory seed oils.

➡Baking ourselves in chemical sunscreen.

➡Fad diets which often run hand in hand with “calorie free” chemical foods and highly processed seed oils.

➡We skip breakfast and reach for coffee loaded with artificial flavours, mold, and excess refined sugar… and then continue the caffeine consumption all day.

➡ Tampons and personal care products are made with GMO cotton, coated in pesticides, plastics and then inserted in our most sensitive areas.

The list goes on…

We are just starting to realize how the cumulative effects of these things are impacting our hormones.

When it comes to the solution for any hormonal issue, we’re prescribed birth control which depletes minerals, increases anxiety and stress, damages thyroid health, and collectively screws up our hormones even more… and the cycle continues.

The madness needs to end.

When I began learning these things, well over 12 years ago now, I immediately went through everything in my home and purged.

I then began making my own organic skincare line, switched to natural for all my household cleaning supplies, even my make up got an upgrade, my cook wear… you name it, it all went if it had chemicals, all to decrease my toxic burden.

Especially because they become TRAPPED in the body.

That’s where homeopathy comes in!

Are you interested in switching to a more natural lifestyle, or wondering what natural skin or body care products are right for you and your family?

Reach out, and I’d be happy to help!

Ps… you can watch my entire skincare routine saved under “ROUTINE” on my Instagram.
